Achievements of the BFPPG

  1. We identified early, the problems with FSR (and SOA’s in particular) and brought them forcefully to the attention of the FPA (in fact it was this issue which brought about the formation of the BFPPG).
  2. We have created important links to ASIC, Treasury, politicians and other people and bodies of importance, to act as a separate and distinct voice for small ASFL’s, as a distinct and separate group within the financial planning industry.
  3. We were the first to raise concerns about FICS with the FPA, ASIC and the Treasury and politicians.
  4. BFPPG Members have made and continue to make, an active contribution to the FPA, through membership on FPA Committees.
  5. We have established our own Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) group policy for our members.
  6. We have helped to elect 2 small AFSL members to the Board, to ensure that small dealer interests are represented at the FPA Board level.
  7. It was pressure from the BFPPG to ensure our interests were effectively represented within the FPA, which led to the restructuring of the Principal Membership category within the FPA, into small AFSL and medium/large AFSL divisions.
  8. We have been very successful in providing a community focus for small AFSL’s to come together and share their experiences and common interests.
  9. We have established our own National Conference which has now been successfully run over 2 years. This again supports the small AFS licensee focus of the BFPPG.
  10. From the outset we have established an inclusive Google Group network exclusively for BFPPG Members – this has allowed daily interaction between Members and is an important communication tool for small AFS licensees.
  11. We have arranged a number of special pricing agreements for our Members with various research houses, software providers and other providers of services to our Members.
